\nDennis graduated from the University of Iowa in 1968 with Psychology\, Sociology\, and History degrees. After graduation\, he entered the US Army\, serving as a Field Artillery Officer and helicopter pilot. His service included a tour in Vietnam\, where he was wounded in action. \;
\n
\nAfter leaving the active Army\, he began a 47-year career in the investment industry\, first working for the late H. Ross Perot and eventually becoming a partner at Bear Stearns and Company. His financial practice centered on private investors and Native American Communities.
\n
\nHe has testified before Congress numerous times on matters concerning Native Americans and has been a guest commentator on CNBC. While advising Native Communities\, he traveled frequently to the Pacific Northwest and decided to move here.
\n
\nHe founded his investment firm in Redmond in 1989 which he ran until 2019.
\nDennis holds an honorary Master of Letters from Fitzwilliam College\, Cambridge University\, is a published author of two novels with a third on the way\, writes for his own Substack\, is an avid\, but not very good\, fly fisherman\, a voracious reader\, a student of history and philosophy and active in veteran&rsquo\;s organizations in the area.

\nDennis has worked at Edmonds College since 2021. He is now part of the Workforce Funding Department. Dennis created a program at the college to assist justice-involved veterans and their families in reintegration. His program has gained statewide and national attention\, and Dennis is a frequent speaker at conferences on criminal justice reform and reentry. His work is the subject of legislation sponsored by Rep Cindy Ryu\, which would create a program called VETCARE within the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges.
